A number of artefacts related to disability and physical impairments will be on display in the Hereford Museum. The items, on loan from Agnes Hunt Hospital in Gobowen, include the Girdlestone Mermaid splint, a Thomas patten-ended caliper, and pages from the “Cripples Journal”.

This seminar will take a rounded look at inclusive education, and consider why disability equality matters in schools.

Eastside Community Heritage and DABD (uk) are inviting East Londoners to share their memories of living and working with a disability at a reminiscence session in Dagenham. Reminiscence sessions are a great opportunity to see photographs of local people and industries from the Eastside archives, and to have an enjoyable chat about your own experiences with like-minded people.
A “working with disability” exhibition will run alongside, telling stories of disabled workers from East London’s Remploy & Newco factories, in their own words.
The exhibition is on 4 pop-up boards, and is available free for local libraries, community groups and voluntary organisations to host during Disability History Month (which runs from Nov 22nd - Dec 22nd) and beyond.

Temple Grandin is a biopic film directed by Mick Jackson and starring Claire Danes as Temple Grandin, an autistic woman who has become one of the top scientists in the humane livestock handling industry. Dr Temple Grandin did not speak until age four and had difficulty through school, interacting with people. She is noted for creating her 'hug box', widely recognized today as a way of relieving stress in autistic children, and her humane design for the treatment of cattle in processing plants, which have been the subject of several books and won an award from PETA. Today, she is a professor at Colorado State University and well-known speaker on autism and animal handling.
